Mary Ani-Amponsah

Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer at the Maternal and Child Health Department, University of Ghana, Faculty in Neonatal Nursing Training at Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM), and Facilitator in Knowledge Translation at Trinity Western University, Canada. I have about 22 years of health care experience with research focused on newborn health, health technology and care provider capacity building using multi-stakeholder engagement approaches. I am involved with multiple local and international collaborative projects within low resource settings. . I am a recent award recipient of the ‘Talented Woman of African Descent’ in the Black History Month – Alliance Jeunesse-Famille de l’Alberta Society (AJFAS), Canada – February, 2022 https://ajfas.ca/en/. Some of my local innovations in knowledge translation include KMC Slings@1 and 2 to support newborn thermal care and maternal/family engagement. I am also involved with locally-made warmer technologies to support newborn/small baby thermal care in resource-limited settings, and technology-integrated care for newborn jaundice prevention and management. I am a Queen Elizabeth Scholar – UK and a life-time Honorary Award recipient of Golden Key International https://goldenkey.org/
