Paula pioneered the role of knowledge broker in the Canadian public health sector during my time with Health Evidence at the McMaster University School of Nursing. In that role, she provided knowledge mobilization advice, training, and support to over 30 public health departments across Canada to promote healthy child and youth development. She has subsequently developed and managed integrated knowledge mobilization teams, networks, and partnerships across Canada and internationally, always with a view to promoting and facilitating evidence-informed decision making in a variety of health-related fields such as public health, child health, and mental health and substance use. Paula have also developed and implemented an organizational Knowledge Mobilization and Evaluation Framework to guide practice, program, policy, and talent development. In her current role as Senior Advisor, Knowledge Mobilization at Children’s Healthcare Canada, Paula has facilitated knowledge exchange and dissemination and established and maintained ongoing dialogue between knowledge producers (researchers) and knowledge users (members, policy makers, patients and families). Paula is a proud but displaced Newfoundlander whose happy place is by the ocean. She is the mother of one smart cookie and servant to two cats.
