Dr. Robinson is the Associate Director, BC ChildrenĀs Hospital Research Institute, an Investigator, BC Children’s Hospital, and a Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia. Her research focuses on development from conception to birth resuling in a complex interplay of signals from mother and fetus. The placenta plays a key role in interpreting these signals and regulating fetal growth. Many complications of pregnancy, including miscarriage, maternal preeclampsia, preterm birth, fetal growth restriction and birth defects can result from abnormalities affecting the placenta. Some goals of our research include:
Understanding how genetic and epigenetic changes arise in development;
Identifying genetic and epigenetic changes in the placenta in association with pregnancy complication; and
Developing DNA and miRNA based clinical tools
