I completed my honours medical degree at the National University of Ireland and Higher Specialist Training with the Royal College of Physicians, Ireland. Moving to SickKids, Toronto for fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, I submitted my Master’s thesis entitled ‘Towards Personalised Care in Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease’. I completed postdoctoral training and subspecialty Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) training in the laboratory of Dr Aleixo Muise and received CIHR grant funding for supports. My work has served to better delineate the genetic phenotype of children with IBD as well as optimizing response to therapy in this age group.
My area of clinical specialty includes pediatric IBD, with a subspecialty interest in very early onset IBD. My research interests include pediatric IBD, pediatric clinical trial endpoints, regulatory mechanisms for clinical trials in pediatric IBD, therapeutic drug monitoring and precision medicine.
I have recently been appointed as the Director of the Pediatric IBD Center at the Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences, and Assistant Professor with Western University. I am determined to improve clinical care and advance treatments for pediatric patients with IBD.
