Biography

I am a pediatric oncologist-hematologist with a focus in neuro-oncology and an Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba / CancerCare Manitoba. I graduated from the University of Manchester and trained in pediatrics in the north of England before completing a PhD in supportive care oncology at the University of Leeds, UK. I then pursued clinical and research fellowships in pediatric hematology/oncology and artificial intelligence in Toronto. My research now centers on artificial intelligence and supportive care in pediatric oncology. I am developing machine learning models using the OMOP Common Data Model to predict outcomes such as hospital readmissions, and I am expanding into other areas of machine learning to improve outcomes for children with cancer. What motivates me most is the opportunity to bridge clinical care and research in ways that directly benefit children and families. Mentorship and collaboration have shaped my career, and I see them as essential for supporting the next generation of clinician-scientists. I enjoy working with trainees, fostering inclusive learning environments, and building networks that encourage shared innovation across institutions. Outside of medicine, I am a marathon runner and weightlifter. These pursuits keep me grounded and teach me perseverance. Growing up and training in the UK as the first in my immediate and extended family to pursue medicine, I learned resilience and developed a strong commitment to creating space for others from underrepresented backgrounds.
