Jelena Komanchuk, PhD, RN, is a pediatric nurse and postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia in the Okanagan (UBCO). Her research aims to support children’s health and development in foster and kinship care through meaningful partnerships with caregivers, community organizations, and child health researchers and clinicians. She has received postdoctoral fellowships from UBCO, Michael Smith Health Research BC, SSHRC, and ENRICH to advance knowledge on the sleep health of children and families in foster and kinship care.
Outside of work, Jelena enjoys time with her animals, getting lost in a good book, and spending as much time outdoors as she can. Whether skiing, hiking, or anything to do with water, she finds joy in being active and connected to nature.
