Jennifer Ryan is a physiotherapist and postdoctoral fellow at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Her research focuses on improving motor function and physical activity in children and youth with neuromotor disabilities. To date, she has explored how physiotherapists promote motor learning during gait-based interventions for children with cerebral palsy, evaluated the feasibility of integrating transcranial direct current stimulation into inpatient physiotherapy for children with acquired brain injury, and explored how exercise influences white matter changes in the brain in children treated for brain tumours. In her postdoc, Jennifer is working with Dr. Shannon Scratch and Dr. Elaine Biddiss to evaluate the feasibility of using a computerized multidomain return-to-play assessment to improve return-to-play recommendations for youth with severe brain injuries. Outside of work, you will likely find Jennifer at a hockey arena where she is either playing hockey, coaching her sons, or watching a Professional Women’s Hockey League game– Go Sceptres!
