Biography

My name is Kathleen Lounsbury, from the Kwakwak’awakw peoples of Vancouver Island. I am currently in doctoral studies in nursing at Trinity Western University. For most of my career, I have been in Indigenous communities as the CHN. I have had some experience as a high-risk pregnancy in Surrey. I love my own Indigenous culture and traditional ways and I hope to be able to explore Indigenous birthing sovereignty, digital storytelling methods and language restoration. I have been teaching at TWU for a few years and have also developed a feathering model to integrate Indigenous ways of knowing and being over the four years in the undergraduate program. I also have been working on a new Indigenous Graduate Education in Nursing (IGEN) program at the University of Victoria under the direction of Dr. Lisa Bourque-Bearskin. If there are any other questions, please contact me at Kathleen.Lounsbury@twu.ca
