Ori Scott is a Clinical Immunology and Allergy Fellow at the Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto. She received her Doctor of Medicine training at the University of Alberta, followed by post-graduate residency in Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. She is currently pursuing a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ronald Cohn at the Department of Genetics and Genome Biology, Hospital for Sick Children, University of Toronto. Her main area of interest revolves around disorders of immune dysregulation as they pertain to the interferon system and JAK/STAT signaling. Both over- and under-activation of these systems can lead to debilitating, multi-system and life-long disease in children. Unfortunately, current treatment options for individuals affected by such devastating conditions are often supportive rather than curative. Ori hopes to use gene editing develop disease models delineating the pathophysiology of these immune dysregulatory conditions. Subsequently, she plans on exploring gene editing methodology to develop cutting-edge therapeutic options which are sorely needed.
