Dr. Saptharishi Lalgudi Ganesan (a.k.a. Rishi Ganesan) is a pediatric critical care physician at the Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario (London, ON) with clinical and research interests in neurocritical care. He holds an Assistant Professor appointment in the Departments of Paediatrics as well as Physiology & Pharmacology at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (Western University). He holds cross-appointments at the Children’s Health Research Institute, the Lawson Health Research Institute, School of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (Western University) and the Brain & Mind Institute (Western Institute for Neurosciences). Dr. Ganesan’s research program aims to improve the long-term neurocognitive and functional outcomes in critically ill children through the development, validation and implementation of novel neuromonitoring tools that provide real-time information regarding physiological and pathological brain states. His program of research aims to provide bedside critical care providers with the tools to identify evolving brain pathologies quickly so that appropriate neuroprotective or neurorestorative interventions can be administered in a timely manner, and to provide accurate and objective prognosis for high-risk critically ill children with acquired brain injuries. This inter-disciplinary research program sits at the intersection of paediatric critical care medicine, computational neuroscience and artificial intelligence.
