Vivian is a resident psychiatric physician at the University of British Columbia and is completing her Masters of Public Health concurrently through Harvard University. She is recognized as a National Schulich Scholar and TEDx speaker. Vivian has been involved in many mentorship activities. She is the CEO and founder of a Canadian Charity, The HOPE Initiative Foundation, which works with youth across the country to gain competitive post-secondary admission and be supported in their post-secondary to career transitions. With the Faculty of Medicine, Vivian was the previous Co-Chair of the Medical Undergraduate Society’s Political Development Committee and represented the University in advocating for improved youth mental health with the Minister of Health in BC. She held previous positions on the Senate of the University of British Columbia and Vancouver City Council’s Children, Youth, and Families Advisory Committee, and is working on advocating for improvements to mental health resources for BC youth. Within psychiatry, Vivian is most interested in addiction and concurrent disorders. Vivian is also heavily involved in paediatric patient advocacy through her positions as National Lead of KidsCan, a youth research advisory group involving 17 paediatric centres across Canada. Vivian has been to over 55 countries around the world and spends her spare time skiing as much as she can in between call shifts.
