Marc Beal

Biography

Marc Beal is a research scientist in the Food Directorate at Health Canada. The current focus of his research is to investigate the toxicities of chemicals in food. In order to modernize chemical safety evaluation, his lab is exploring computational and non-animal approaches. During his PhD studies, Marc focused on deciphering how environmental chemicals can impact health and development during both germline and embryonic development. Marc had the opportunity to participate as a trainee in the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Training Program in Reproduction, Early Development, and the Impact on Health (REDIH). This program provided an enriched learning environment and helped shape his career in health sciences. During his time as a REDIH trainee, he was mentored on certain skills related to presenting and writing, and he hopes to share this knowledge with ENRICH trainees as a mentor. Marc is a proud father of three boys and in his spare time he enjoys using his 3d printer to fix things around the house that his boys break.
