Biography

Mary Dunbar is a pediatric neurologist and clinical epidemiologist in Calgary, Alberta, specializing in perinatal brain injury with a special interest in fetal neurology. She completed her BSc at McGill University, which inspired the pursuit of an MSc in Neuroscience in the University of Calgary Leaders in Medicine program, which she completed in the lab of Dr. Whelan, examining the role of endogenous serotonin on the spinal cord. During her pediatric neurology residency at UBC she solidified a love for clinical research, and enrolled in the UBC Clinician Investigator Program (Dr. Spacey) to complete an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology (Dr. Hill and Dr. Kirton), focused on perinatal stroke. Mary gradually began to form a research program around a passion for delivering evidence-based care for fetuses with neurological conditions. In her spare time Mary enjoys spending time with her clinician scientist spouse and their two wonderfully strange children.
