I began my career as a criminologist working with incarcerated youth. Faced with unanswered questions, I returned to academia to study youth at risk, child development, and neuropsychology. Now, as a researcher and Registered Psychologist my focus includes identification and evaluation of interventions to support healthy outcomes for youth put at risk, and in particular individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. I am particularly drawn to understanding strengths and protective factors in the youth I work with – and find myself inspired by the resilience and wisdom I encounter. Outside of this, I savor time with my husband, my four adult children, and my large canine babies. Relationships fulfill me, travel inspires me, and painting and outdoor activities relax me. I am grateful for long conversations over coffee with students (and others) who continuously expand my thinking -mentorship has provided some of the greatest growth opportunities in my career to date.
