Marinka Twilt was born and raised in the Netherlands. Marinka was infected with the research bug during medical school conducting her mandatory research project. After medical school at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, she continued her research and obtained a MSc in clinical epidemiology and a PhD before entering into pediatric residency in Leiden. In 2010, Marinka moved to Toronto for a core fellowship pediatric rheumatology. After working in Birmingham UK and Aarhus Denmark, she joined the pediatric rheumatology section at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary in 2015. Marinka is a clinician scientist with an interest in MSK imaging, specifically of the temporomandibular joint and personalized medicine for rare rheumatic diseases. Marinka was the CCHCSP Calgary site co-lead and loves inspiring young faculty to pursue a career in research.
