In Dalhousie University’s Department of Pediatrics, we’re proud of the pioneering efforts our department has made over the last century. As one of the oldest academic pediatric medicine departments in Canada, we’ve built a strong, consistent reputation for excellence in patient care, education and research. Over the years, we’ve grown to include 16 specialty clinical divisions, two clinical services and a strong basic science research program. Our long history provides us with the resources and experience we need to achieve our goals, which include:
• partnering with community-based health care providers to provide state-of-the-art tertiary care for Maritime children and youth in need
• training tomorrow’s doctors, nurses and allied health professionals
• advancing current medical knowledge and practices through research
Our location in Halifax, Nova Scotia, gives us valuable opportunities to partner with the IWK Health Centre, which provides comprehensive, specialized interdisciplinary health care for children, youth and women from across Atlantic Canada.
This collaboration allows us to further our teaching and research efforts and provide opportunities for provincial continuing medical education activities.
