Dr. Michael Gritti is a current Core Pediatrics resident at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada where he was proudly born and raised. He received a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and his medical degree from the University of Toronto, where he served as Class Co-President. He intends to pursue further subspecialty training in Pediatric Cardiology and has published 9 manuscripts in the field of congenital heart disease, focusing on outcomes research, surgical safety, and statistical design methods within the field. He currently is working with his mentors, Dr. Brian McCrindle and Dr. Audrey Marshall assessing novel biomarkers in acute kidney injury in pediatric cardiology patients and long term interventional cardiology outcomes after the arterial switch operation, respectively. Michael founded HeartHeroesX, an educational organization that teaches the importance of heart health and cardiac anatomy, through pig heart dissections, to high school student in the Greater Toronto Area. He plans to continue his academic career with a graduate degree in Epidemiology with the goal of becoming a Clinician-Scientist in the future. In his spare time, you can find Michael learning new recipes in the kitchen, cycling along the lakeshore or playing a pick-up game of basketball outside.
